About Me

ICAS Art Scholl Showmanship Award winning airshow announcer and co-host of the award winning "Show Center The Airshow Podcat."

Honorary Member of the Snowbirds Jet Demonstration Team.

The Art Scholl Memorial Showmanship Award is widely considered the highest artistic honor in the air show industry. Its purpose is to recognize individuals whose work brings excitement and emotional resonance to air show audiences. Ric Peterson was selected as the 40th recipient of the award, an accomplishment made even more significant by the fact that he became only the second announcer ever to receive it.

Peterson’s contribution to showmanship is rooted in storytelling. He has a rare ability to guide spectators through an experience rather than simply narrating a sequence of maneuvers. Peterson gives context to the aircraft, the pilots, and the history behind the performance. He highlights the emotion behind the moment and brings audiences into a shared appreciation for aviation. His style has shaped how spectators understand what they see in the air, making him an integral part of the performance rather than a voice on the sidelines.

Peterson now joins a select group that includes artists, innovators, and aviation pioneers who changed the way audiences experience air shows, joining air show legends Bob Hoover, Gene Soucy, Leo Loudenslager, Les Shockley, Jimmy Franklin, John Mohr, French Connection Air Shows, and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, among others.”
